Type Tuesday – 10 December 2013
Archive night with Lucienne Roberts, Rathna Ramanathan, Fraser Muggeridge, Gerry Leonidas, Ken Garland, Simon Esterson and Martin Andrews
Next week we’ll be hosting another Type Tuesday event at St Bride Library in London. This time it’s an ‘archive night’ in collaboration with the Department of Typography & Graphic Communication at the University of Reading.

The format will be familiar to anyone who attended our archive nights in New York last May, or Amsterdam in October, or in London at the V&A and St Bride in 2012.
What happens is that a number of distinguished guests choose items from the archive in question. Each contributor talks about their chosen item for five or ten minutes, with the help of projected slides or a visualiser.
For this occasion our guests have chosen artefacts from the Reading Department’s archive, and we are very grateful for the participation of Gerry Leonidas, Associate Professor of Typography, University of Reading, who will be presenting his own choice from the collection.

Our other guests are: Rathna Ramanathan, graphic designer and design tutor; Fraser Muggeridge, graphic designer, founder of the Typography Summer School; Ken Garland, graphic designer and photographer; Simon Esterson, art director and co-owner of Eye magazine; and Martin Andrews, former deputy director of the Centre for Ephemera Studies, University of Reading.
Martin Andrews.
The Reading archive is an extraordinarily rich and varied collection of artefacts from the history of typography, printing and graphic design.
