Evi O. Studio: Feast between the lines
This Sydney-based studio brings high-energy illustration and lettering to editorial design for food [EXTRACT]
Indonesian-born, Sydney-based designer Evi O (the ‘O’ stands for Oetomo) designs cookbooks that are colourful and exuberant, filled with line drawings, digital illustrations, dripping paint and hand-rendered lettering. She has worked with food writers such as Bettina Campolucci Bordi, Tim Anderson and Matthew Evans, and admits that ‘this particular electric design energy our studio embodies has, for better or worse, become our signature.’
Spreads from Tim Anderson’s Tokyo Stories (2019).
Top. Illustrated chapter opener. Tokyo Stories is the second book in Evi O. Studio’s collaboration with publisher Kate Pollard, Anderson and photographer Nassima Rothacker. The design aims to reflect the craziness of Tokyo.
