The Designs of Lou Dorfsman celebrated at Kemistry Gallery
Kemistry Gallery is celebrating the work of legendary designer Lou Dorfsman, art director for the CBS network in a new exhibition opening with a private view tonight from 6pm.
We were lucky enough to see one of the show’s highlights being created: the downsized 2D version of the famous CBS cafeteria wall created by Lou, Herb Lubalin and Tom Carnase out of 1500 individual characters all produced in three dimensions in order to cast interesting shadows and house fabricated objects such as hands and sausages. A great piece of typographic history to see up close. See the feature in Eye 20 for more information.
