Terse and optional

Letter from Christopher Robbins

I write regarding ‘Digital history book (Critique, Eye no. 59 vol. 15, pp.4-5), about www.alvinlustig.org. An earlier presentation of design history for the point-and-click (if not the click-and-search) generation was grographics’ www.designhistoryinabox.net, which contained a large span of design history condensed into three images with terse, even optional text. We made this quirky and unpolished site back in 2000, and it took first prize for ‘best designed website’ in the 2001 sxsw Web awards.
