Metal madness
Letter from Clyde McConnell
David Thompson quotes H. D. Buchloh as fretting that: “The antimony between artists and intellectuals on the one hand and capitalist production on the other has been annihilated or has disappeared by attrition”. Did Buchloh really write ‘antimony’? If so, I’d say he needs a session with Oliver Sacks’s ‘Uncle Tungsten’ – or maybe with Dr Sacks himself.

The author replies: ‘Apologies. I typed ‘antimony’ (a silvery metal) instead of ‘antinomy’ (contradiction, conflict). My face is red with shame [as is that of the editor]. DT
