Form + Zweck, the Berlin design magazine, champions a critical Modernism. By refusing to compromise, its designers, Cyan, have created their own context
“We work predominately in the cultural sector on projects in the no-to low-budget range,” say Haufe. The Bauhaus, Dessau, is a major client and last year Cyan designed eight posters and several brochures for the school as well as numerous posters, catalogues and programmes for exhibitions and performances for other organisations. Finding creative solutions within low budgets is a consistent aspect of their work, much of which shows an expert handling of two-colour printing,. But however tight the costs, there is no sacrifice of quality: “We care a great deal about the detailing of typesetting, lithography and control of the printing press”…
